  1. Is this the new keto diet is it ?as the alkaline diet in 2014 got replaced by the keto diet and soon another diet will be replacing keto as keto is a revamped Atkins diet

    1. Yeah but it’s the heart thing that is important to a lot of use not just weight.

  2. What???? It’s a diet for hypertension.
    Why they mention weight loss is beyond me. Maybe it’s because we are so convinced that forced weight loss is what’s healthy. But that’s wrong. The diet seems to work for hypertension.

    1. I agree with you. No matter what I saw a doctor for, 99% of the feedback I got back was “lose weight”. I’ll always remember I went to a walk-in clinic for a headache that wouldn’t go away. The doctor laid into me about losing weight (at that point I was no more than 10 pounds overweight). Saw another doctor shortly after. Conclusion: My eyes were messed up! He sent me straight to the optometrist who had the headaches cured in no time.

    1. Top Secret Bear I am with you on this. I don’t believe for a minute that they were that strict on this diet for one year and didn’t lose more weight. I really don’t think anyone could stay on that diet for one year without cheating from time to time.

  3. It’s hard for me to believe they didn’t lose more weight. That tells me they are cheating on the diet. And I don’t blame them. A diet like that would be hard for anyone to stick to.

  4. Weird they didn’t lose more weight! Over a whole YEAR?? They must have cheated somewhere along the line or Dr. Oz meant a 2-week phase I period. When I do phase I of the DASH diet, I can lose 15 pounds in 2 weeks; it’s truly not that hard. I had hit 200 pounds. No bread, potatoes or beans till phase II, but you stay full. Breakfast is eggs and some bacon. Salads, lean meat, veggie sides for lunch and dinner, sugar-free jello. The jello is a lifesaver that you eat whenever you want since there’s no fruit with phase I. Phase II adds the occasional potato, piece of bread, pasta, etc. I’m mildly hypertensive and still take a pill a day, on or off the diet. The diet didn’t change that. Nothing wrong with a simple diet, Dr. Oz, for crying out loud. Most people eat the same thing repeatedly anyway.

  5. I have been on the DASH diet for 7 months now, and I have lost 21 pounds. I believe the reason they have not lost that much weight, is that they have change from eating unhealthy foods to healthy foods, but may not have change the total calorie amount of food. A person can find on the internet different calorie limits, and then the amount of servings per food group. I am on the 2400 calorie limit, and it tells me how many servings I can eat. It beats counting calories.
